Layers in clothes- Vestiti a strati

This morning while dressing up I have realized that I love to wear layers...and I use layers also when I design...as you can see in the skirt that I have designed a couple of years ago. I like the effect of different fabrics with different length...and while dressing up this morning I have used the same idea while choosing the top part...so on the top of the grey T-shirt I have the sleeveless Wrapigan I have knitted with a lovely Woollmeise (a dear gift from a dear friend) and the Sfumature cape in an incredible Madelinetosh. And the colors are perfect with the ones in the skirt...so this is what I am wearing today:)

Questa mattina mentre mi vestivo mi sono resa conto di quanto ami gli strati nell'abbigliamento...e uso gli strati anche quando creo...come si può vedere nella gonna che ho disegnato qualche hanno fa. Mi piace l'effetto di tessuti diversi con lunghezze diverse...e mentre mi vestivo questa mattina ho usato la stessa idea metre sceglievo cosa indossare sopra...su una T-shirt grigia ho messo il Wrapigan senza maniche che ho realizzato con una bellissima Wollmeise (un caro reaglo di una cara amica) e la cappa Sfumature lavorato con una meravigliosa Madelinetosh. E i colori si abbinano perfettamente con quelli nella gonna...e così ecco cosa indosso oggi:)

Birthday outfit - Completo per il compleanno

I am working on my birthday outfit:)

I am going to sew a skirt with lovely blue and red brocade (from a rectangle, as in the video) and a top in blue jersey fabric with brocade cuffs...and on top I am going to wear the red cardigan I am knitting as pictured in the second image. It is the Rama for Ladies version I am working on at the moment...here you can see the girl's version...and for a while I have been pondering on the sleeves length...and I have decided for a 3/4 one...to highlight the brocade cuffs and perfect for a more springly season. As soon as everything is ready I will show pictures of my birthday outfit:))

Sto lavorando al completo per il mio compleanno:)

Cucirò una gonna con un bellissimo broccato blu e rosso (da un rettangolo, come nel video) e un top con il jersey blu e polsini con il broccato...e sopra tutto indosserò il cardigan su cui sto lavorando in questi giorni, il Rama for Ladies...qui potete vedere la versione per ragazze...per un po' ho meditato sulla lunghezza delle maniche...e ho deciso per una lunghezza 3/4...per evidenziare i polsini di broccato e perfette per un tempo più primaverile. Appena tutto è pronto vi farò vedere delle foto del mio completo per il compleanno:))

Quality of time - La qualità del tempo

The quality of time...this is one of my musts lately...I believe that in quality of time can be found the answer to happiness...

I was thinking about all this while knitting Mati's new hat...a quick project...she had forgotten her's during the weekend at grandmother's house...and in the morning it is cold...

I have lived some hectic two weeks, between work, the girls, the house, DH away on a business trip for days, homeworks, dentist appointments, meetings at school...

and I have forgotten to breath, to take a break and look at the skyline, to be completely present in every moment (and not thinking about the next thing to do) or to meet a friend. I have had a strict and detailed agenda and no second was allowed for a break...

now back to being myself and trying to give the right quality to time...

and next week we are going to celebrate my birthday, oh yes, I will be 40 and I am planning a full week of celebrations, with giveaways and other events:)))

La qualità del tempo...questo è uno dei miei must ultimamente...credo che nella qualità del tempo possa essere trovata una risposta alla felicità...

Pensavo a tutto questo mentre lavoravo al cappello nuovo di Mati...un progetto veloce...aveva dimenticato il suo durante il fine settimana dalla nonna...e al mattino fa freddo...

Ho vissuto due settimane molto intense, tra il lavoro, le ragazze, la casa, il marito via per lavoro per giorni, i compiti, appuntamenti con il dentista, riunioni a scuola...

e mi sono dimenticata di respirare, di prendere una pausa e guardare il paesaggio, di essere completamente presente in ogni momento (senza pensare a che cosa avrei dovuto fare dopo) o incontrare un'amica. Ho avuto un'agenda fitta e intensa senza concesisoni di spazio...

Ora voglio di nuovo essere me stessa tentando di dare la giusta qualità al tempo...

e la prossima settimana festeggeremo il mio compleanno, e già, ne compio 40, e sto organizzando una settimana piena di eventi, giveaways e altro:)))

It must be the freezing weather of last week, it could be the facination for cables that is obsessing me lately, it can be the desire to create something new, it should be the love for clothes...

I am thinking about creating a knitted skirt in wool...

last night, past midnight, I had this idea in mind and I was searching for the perfect yarn for my idea among my stash...and my DH was worried that I could fell from a drawer I was standing on...I had to search in some boxes that I have on my closet...

I found the yarn and went to bed dreaming about the skirt...

ieri sera, dopo mezzanotte, avevo quest'idea in mente e stavo cercando la lana perfetta per la mia idea tra i miei gomitoli...e il caro marito era preoccupato che potessi cadere da una cassettiera su cui ero salita...dovevo cercare in alcune scatole che ho sopra un armadio...

ho trovato la lana e sono andata a dormire sognando la gonna...

Yesterday we left Turin around 9 a.m. and as soon as we started driving on the Highway toward Milan we found ourselves in an incredible landscape...we felt like we could meet elves or special and magical creatures.

We had to stop and take some pictures.

This is my Swedish aunt, Marie Samuelsson, a unique and incredible composer, while receiving an important Swedish Royal Price. Last summer she wrote to me describing a shrug she wanted to wear for the event...and I designed and knitted Swedish Music, a unique and elegant shrug for her...the one you can see in the picture:))

Knitting more than once the same pattern: this was something that I didn't like to do years ago. I wanted to test something new every time, I wanted to experiment with new techniques, with new lines...

In the past years I have learned that it can be nice and fun to knit the same pattern, it is like going to meet a well known and dear friend. Each time I notice new details, new possibilities...it is relaxing and it can be fun to see also what happens by using different fibers or tension. New ways of possibilities:)) As I did for the Laigueglia in these three pictures:)

Lavorare più di una volta lo stesso modello: era qualcosa che non mi piaceva fare anni fa. Volevo provare qualcosa di nuovo ogni volta, volevo provare tecniche nuove, con nuove linee...
Negli scorsi anni ho imparato che può essere bello e divertente rilavorare lo stesso modello, è un po' come andare a ritrovare un cara amica di vecchia data. Ogni volta noto nuovi dettagli, nuove possibilità...è rilassante e può essere anche divertente vedere cosa succede utilizzando materiali o tensioni diverse. Nuovi modi per nuove possibilità:)) Come ho fatto per il Laigueglia in queste tre foto:)

Almost ready - Quasi pronta

I am almost ready: I had the idea for this cardigan in November and I started writing the pattern right away, totally facinated by the effects and designs created by cables.

December and the beginning of January have been very busy, new ideas and new projects (I will soon tell you all about it, I am so happy about all of them), but during Christmas break I managed to test knit it and develop the different sizes.

Now my mom, my sweet and helpful mom, is helping me with the text editing and the test knit in the extra sizes. Thank you with all my heart:))

I must confess that I really like the DolceAmica cardigan:)

Sono quasi pronta: l'idea per questo cardigan risale al mese di novembre e ho subito iniziato a scrivere il pattern, totalmente affascinata dagli effetti e dai disegni creati dalle trecce.

Dicembre e gennaio sono stati mesi intensi, con nuovi progetti e nuove idee (presto vi racconterò tutto, sono così felice per tutte le novità), ma durante la pausa di Natale sono riuscita a realizzare il test knit e a sviluppare le diverse taglie.

Adesso mia mamma, la mia dolce mamma, mi sta aiutando con l'editing del testo e la realizzazione dei test nelle altre taglie. Grazie di cuore:))

Confesso che mi piace tanto il cardigan DolceAmica:)

A gift for my niece - Un regalo per mia nipote

I knitted a Ginevra Caponcho for my niece's birthday.

She is the same age as Rachele, they are almost teenagers, they are growing so fast.

I was thinking about all these things while chosing the perfect color: it couldn't be too pink, but not too dark...and perfect for spring...

so I decided for this variegated yarn with burgundy and red shades.

I had to knit it with bigger needles, so I casted on a smaller amount of stitches by knitting the lace pattern with one repetition less.

Ho realizzato un Ginevra Caponcho per il compleanno di mia nipote.

Ha la stessa età di Rachele, sono quasi adolescenti, crescono così in fretta.

Pensavo a tutte queste cose mentre sceglievo il colore perfetto: non poteva essere troppo rosa, ma neanche troppo scuro...perfetto per la primavera...

così ho scelto questo colore sfumato sui rossi e bourdeaux.

Ho usato dei ferri più spessi, così ho montato meno maglie togliendo una ripetizione al motivo traforato.

My creativity: it is a vital part of my life, it is the energy of making something...my mind sometimes wanders among lines and stitch patterns, I feel that something can be materialized, I sense the possibilities of a fiber...

eventually I have learned that all this can be a form of energy that needs to take its form otherwise I feel upset, nervous, or depressed. It keeps my mind focused, like a healing balm for my thoughts...

it is my way to say that I love life and the many possibilities there are, it is my choice to be happy, it is the reason I feel I can do things and solve problems, it is my choice to live in a positive way my life.

La mia creativià: è una parte vitale della mia vita, è l'energia del creare qualcosa...la mia mente a volte vaga tra linee e modelli di punti, sento che qualcosa può essere materializzato, percepisco le possibilità di una fibra....

col tempo ho imparato che tuttò ciò può essere una forma di energia che deve prendere la sua forma altrimenti mi sento triste, nervosa o depressa. Mantiene la mia mente focalizzata, come un balsamo curativo per i miei pensieri...

I must confess I prefer skeins of yarn,

I love the feeling of them and to know that they often have special origins,

I love to use umbrella swifts and winders,

they create a unique and romantic atmosphere.

But I also like balls of yarn,

especially when I have the urge to cast on immediately:)

Important books for knitters - Libri importanti per chi lavora a maglia

There are some books that I consider vital for a knitter: books on stitiches. There are many different types and in many languages and they are all interesting and important for inspiration.

I love to look through them and everytime I am surprised by the many possibilities that can be created with some simple stitches as knit, purl, yarn over, knit 2 together and slip slip knit.

And many new can be created and thought...the infinite possibilities of knitting and stitches.

On my shelves I have some editions that I consider my favorite, as the Stitchionary Collection by Vogue Knitting and The Harmony Guides by Interweave Press.

Ci sono dei libri che considero di vitale importanza per chi lavora a maglia: i libri sui punti. Ne esistono di tanti tipi e in tante lingue e sono tutti molto interessanti e importante fonte d'ispirazione.

Adoro sfogliarli e tutte le volte rimango sorpresa dalla moltitudine di possibilità che possono essere create con dei semplici punti come diritto, rovescio, gettata, 2 maglie insieme o accavallate. E molte altre possono essere create e pensate...le infinite possibilità del lavoro a maglia e dei punti.

Nella mia libreria ci sono delle edizioni che considero le mie preferite, come la Collezione dei Stitchionary di Vogue Knitting e l'Harmony Guides di Interweave Press.

Wow 2012, wow this is the first post of this new year...I have so many ideas, I want to do so many things...it is going to be a special year, I will be 40 in less than a month, I look at the girls and I see them growing in such an incredible way, I haso so many projects in my mind. I have started it in the best way I could: by test knitting on a new pattern I am working on, the Dolce Amica.

I want to spend time with my family and my friends, read books, knit and write:)

I wish everybody a new incredible year full of life and new ideas:))

Wow il 2012, wow, questo è il primo post di questo nuovo anno...ho così tante idee, voglio fare così tante cose...sarà un anno speciale, compierò 40 anni in meno di un mese, guardo le ragazze crescere così meravigliosamente, ho così tanti progetti in mente. Ho iniziato l'anno nel migliore dei modi: lavorando al test di un nuovo pattern che sto scrivendo, il Dolce Amica.

An Inverno Cowl - Un collo Inverno

After knitting my Peasy, I had one ball of yarn left. I love the Tango fiber by GrignascoKnits and I wanted to make something nice with it. It is a discontinued fiber and I am happy because I have some more color shades in my stash.
I have knitted an Inverno Cowl to wear with my cardigan. I played with gauge and I have knitted it with 4 mm needles instead of the 3,5 mm I have used for the sweater, so that it would have a more loose effect and a softer wearability.

Mi è avanzato un gomitolo di lana dalla realizzazione del mio Peasy. Amo la Tango della GrignascoKnits e volevo realizzare qualcosa di speciale. E' un filato fuori produzione e sono contenta di avere ancora delle varianti nelle mie scorte.
Ho realizzato un Inverno Cowl da indossare con il mio cardigan. Ho giocato con la tensione e ho usato i ferri con le punte da 4 mm invece di 3,5 mm come avevo usato per il maglione, per ottenere un effetto più aperto e una vestibilità più morbida.

I am thinking about my next knitting projects and I have looked in my stash for some inspiring yarn.

I want to knit a black Mara's Cardigan, perfect for every occasion and since it is sleeveless, I will be able to wear it also in Spring. And a red Tilde, now that I am in a mood for new color shades and I am very much facinated by reds...and greens....and blues....OK, I will start with a red Tilde...

Sto pensando ai miei prossimi progetti e ho cercato nello mio stash gomitoli che m'ispirassero. Voglio realizzare un Mara's Cardigan in nero, perfetto per tutte le occasioni ed essendo senza maniche lo porterò tranquillamente anche in primavera. E un Tilde rosso, ora che sono in una nuova fase di sfumature di colori e mi affascinano molto i rossi....i verdi... i blu....OK, inizierò con un Tilde rosso....

My Peasy - Il mio Peasy

Here it is, I have finished my Peasy and I am so happy about it:)
I love it. I knitted longer sleeves and a straighter body, to have a more linear look.
And it is perfect with my new striped pants that I have made to wear with it.

Eccolo, ho finito il mio Peasy e mi piace tantissimo:)
Lo adoro. Ho lavorato il cardigan con delle maniche più lunghe e un corpo più dritto, per un look più lineare.
Ed è perfetto con i miei nuovi pantaloni a righe che ho realizzato per indossarli insieme al cardigan.

Straight or circular needles- Ferri dritti o circolari

I have realized that even if I can knit with straight needles, I usually choose the circular ones.

I find them more comfortable to use, they are lighter and easier to carry around. If they are made in wood, I am less afraid that they can break in my bag since they are shorter. They also allow to try on the work in progress in a more realistic way.

It is true, I have started to use more often only circular needles.

Mi sono resa conto che anche quando posso lavorare con i ferri dritti, scelgo quelli circolari.

Li trovo più comodi da usare, più leggeri e pratici da portare in giro. Se fatti di legno, ho meno paura che si possano rompere nella borsa perché più corti. Ti permettono anche di provare in modo più realistico il lavoro in corso.

E' vero, ho iniziato a usare sempre di più solo i ferri circolari.

Relaxed knitting - Knitting rilassato

Last night I sat down on the sofa happy after two special days full of family events and picked up my needles. I did some relaxed knitting, with no pressure (as finishing Christmas gifts) amd finished the body of my Peasy. While working, I remembered that I have some small orange flower buttons that are perfect for the color shades of my yarn. I also knitted the borders and now I have to knit the sleeves: I am thinking to knit them a little bit longer, up to my wrists.

Ieri sera mi sono seduta sul divano felice dopo due giorni pieni di eventi famigliari e ho ripreso il mio lavoro a maglia. Ho lavorato a maglia in modo rilassato, senza alcuna pressione (come quella di finire i regali di Natale) e ho finito il corpo del mio Peasy. Mentre lavoravo, mi sono ricordata di avere dei piccoli bottoni arancioni a forma di fiore che sono perfetti per le sfumature della mia lana. Ho anche realizzato i bordi e ora mi mancano solo le maniche: penso di realizzarle un po' più lunghe, sino ai polsi.

GrignascoKnits has a new section in the Pattern Books page of their new website: Free Patterns.

They have started to upload them in Italian and they will also be available in English, French and German.

And they are uploading them in sections labeled by the type of fiber, very useful:)

Coffee or tea?

I am definitly a coffee person, especially in the morning, when I start working by the computer, I love my mug of coffee. But now that is cold outside, half through the morning or the afternoon, I look foward to sip a cup of green tea...and after dinner, late at night, it is lovely to have some warm herb tea.

Sono decisamente una persona da caffè, specialmente alla mattina, quando inizio a lavorare davanti al computer, adoro la mia tazza di caffè. Ma adesso che fa freddo fuori, a metà mattina o pomeriggio mi piace sorseggiare una tazza di tè verde...e dopo cena, tardi la sera, è bello bere una tisana.

The first one is Pausa and I remember the emotions while designing it. I loved the thought of an asymetrical opening and a yoke built on cables.

Christmas Sewing - Cucito Natalizio

In these days I have been doing some Christmas sewing for some special gifts. This is one of the bags I love to make, with flower decorations. This year I have been lucky, I found so many beautiful and different handles I have used to make the bags. After the gifts will be given, I will show you the pictures:) For now, they have to be secret bags:)

In questi giorni mi sono anche dedicata a del cucito natalizio per realizzare dei regali speciali. Questa è una delle borse che amo realizzare, con le decorazioni floreali. Quest'anno sono stata anche fortunata, ho trovato tanti manici belli e tutti diversi che ho usato per le borse. Dopo che i regali saranno stati consegnati, vi farò vedere le foto:) Per ora devono rimanere borse segrete:)

This morning, while trying on my Levenwick, I have realized how much I love top-down cardigans. I know that I will have to restart, I need to knit mine in a size smaller, but thank you to the fact that I have tried it one and I have been able to verify the wearibility on my shoulders and arms, now I only have a small part to re-knit and I will be able to knit my Levenwick in the perfect size:)

Questa mattina, mentre provavo il mio Levenwick, ho realizzato quanto sia grande il mio amore per i cardigan top-down. So che dovrò ripartire con il mio, devo realizzarlo in una taglia più piccola, ma proprio grazie al fatto di aver potuto provare la vestibilità sulle spalle e sul giromanica, ora ho solo una piccola parte da rifare e potrò realizzare il mio Levenwick nella taglia giusta:)

Last night there was this incredible and strange moon...before going to bed, all the lights off, I started staring at it...and so many thoughts started to fluctuate in my mind...wow, in January I will be fourty...so many beautiful and difficult events in these years... I am stronger...I am the woman I wanted to become...I am lucky...I have a special family...I have the best of friends I could wish for...I work with my passion...the difficulties I have encounterd have left some scars, but they made me more determined...to make the best out of life and circumstances...

I am happy

and thank you to all of you dear friends close and far away to be so special:)))

Ieri sera c'era questa strana e incredibile luna...prima di andare a dormire, con tutte le luci spente, ho iniziato a guardarla...e tanti pensieri hanno iniziato a fluttuare nella mia mente...wow, a gennaio compio quarant'anni...in questi anni sono successe tante meravigliose e difficili cose...sono più forte...sono la donna che volevo diventare...sono fortunata...ho una famiglia speciale...ho i migliori amici che potrei desiderare...lavoro con la mia passione...le difficoltà che ho incontrato hanno lasciato delle cicatrici, ma mi hanno resa ancora più determinata...per prendere il meglio dalla vita e dalle circostanze...

In every day life, in nature, in books, in pictures, in a child's dream...inspiration can be anywhere and everywhere. Sometimes a detail that I haven't noticed before just pops up to my eyes and I can see it turn in something else...

Inspiration is also the desire to do always something new, I believe it is the strength to look ahead, to see in a positive way our future, there are always new ways to create new things, there is so much happiness in creativity and inspiration is the primary source.

Nella vita di tutti i giorni, nella natura, nei libri, nelle foto, in un sogno di un bambino...l'ispirazione può essere ovunque e dapertutto. A volte un dettaglio che non avevo notato prima mi colpisce e posso vederlo trasformarsi in qualcos'altro...

A passion for cowls - Una passione per i colli

I could say that this winter is defined by a passion for cowls...I wear them everyday and if, by mistake, I forget to bring one with me I feel strange...they are comfortable, they keep my neck warm and they are also decorative...the perfect accessory. I dream them with reversable patterns, with different forms (I love them all): regular fit, ring, long ring...and there are so many different possibilities among stitches and colors....a true passion for cowls...

Potrei dire che quest'inverno è contraddistinto da una passione per i colli...li indosso tutti i giorni e se, per errore, mi dimentico di portarne uno con me mi sento strana...sono comodi, riscaldano il mio collo e sono decorativi...l'accessorio perfetto. Li sogno con disegni reversibili, in forme diverse (li amo tutti): vestibilità normale, ad anello, ad nello doppio...e ci sono così tante diverse possibilità tra punti e colori...una vera passione per i colli...

This is a new idea I have been working on the past week. The yarn, Wool Classica by Manos dell'Uruguay, is special to me, a dear friend brought it to me as a gift from a journey, and I wanted to knit something unique. Lately I am facinated by cables and their different effects. The variegated shades of the fiber hide a little bit the design created by the cables. So I am going to knit it again with the red yarn in the last picture. And I am curious to see it:)) A Christmas jacket:)

Questa è la nuova idea su cui ho lavorato la scorsa settima. La lana, la Wool Classica di Manos dell'Uruguay, è speciale, me l'ha portata una mia amica da un suo viaggio in regalo e volevo creare qualcosa di unico. Ultimamente mi affascinano le trecce e i loro diversi disegni, ma l'effetto variegato della lana nasconde leggermente il motivo creato dalle trecce. Così ne realizzerò un altro con la lana rossa che vedete nell'ultima foto. E non vedo l'ora di vederlo:)) Una giacca per Natale:)

Today I had an incredible and lovely day with the girls. We prepared things for Christams and I thought it was about time to prepare my 2012 planner. By using some fabric and some glue (as we did here for the notebooks) I customized it and now I feel almost ready for the new year:)

Oggi ho passato una giornata incredibile e meravigliosa con le ragazze. Abbiamo preparato le cose per Natale e ho pensato che fosse arrivato il momento di preparare la mia agenda per il 2012. Utilizzando del tessuto e della colla (come avevamo fatto qui per i quadernoni) l'ho personalizzato e ora mi sento quasi pronta per il nuovo anno:)

Creative ideas - Idee creative

Sometimes it might take a while, some yarn can live in my stash for some time...and then I might see something, maybe just while walking to school to pick up the girls, and I have that feeling, I sense the urge to start working with that yarn, with those size needles beacause something is materializing ...and when I start I can't stop, I want to see the project finished, I knit late at night, and I wake up in the morning before everybody else to find some time to knit...and now I am in that moment of the creative process that I can see what it will become and I can't wait to finish it....knit, knit, knit...and it is a good thing that today in Italy it is a holiday and we have a long weekend...so knit, knit, knit...

A volte ci vuole del tempo, della lana può vivere tra i miei scaffali per un po' di tempo...e poi vedo qualcosa, a volte anche solo camminando per strada mentre vado a prendere le ragazze a scuola, e ho quella sensazione, percepisco l'urgenza di iniziare a lavorare con quella lana, con quei ferri perché qualcosa si sta materializzando...e quando inizio non riesco a fermarmi, voglio vedere il progetto finito, lavoro tardi la sera e mi sveglio presto al mattino prima di tutti gli altri per avere un po' di tempo per lavorare a maglia...e ora sono in quel momento del processo creativo dove posso vedere che cosa diventerà il mio progetto e non vedo l'ora di finirlo....lavoro, lavoro, lavoro...ed è bello che oggi sia festa in Italia e che ci sia un fine settimana lungo...così lavoro, lavoro, lavoro...

A new Wrapigan intrepretation - Una nuova interpretazione del Wrapigan

One day a friend arrived with a bag full of yarn, telling me that she had fallen in love with these skeins and that she wanted a Wrapigan but she didn’t remember how to knit…

so I knitted it for her...even if it is an easy and quick knit it took me almost a month to finish it…in between other projects…

I made some mods, for the different gauge and I also knitted decreases for the sleeves, since the fiber was so bulky a rectangular sleeve seemed a little bit to much…

The original Wrapigan looks like this...

Un giorno un'amica è venuta da me con una borsa piena di gomitoli, dicendomi che si era innamorata di questo gomitoli e che voleva assolutamente un Wrapigan ma non si ricordava come lavorare a maglia...

così l'ho realizzato per lei..anche se è un progetto veloce e facile mi ci è voluto quasi un mese per finirlo...lavorandolo tra gli altri progetti...

Ho fatto alcune modifiche, per la tensione diversa e ho anche lavorato diminuzioni per le maniche, perché la lana era molto più spessa dell'originale e le maniche rettangolari sembravano un po' troppo...

In today's post I wanted to talk about stash, asking you how your stash is organized, how you feel about stash in order to understand better myself and my stah..

then before starting to write it I read a post in a blog I have been following for a while written by a real special and creative person, Ashley. She is living one of the hardest challenges of life and...she is just incredible. Choose Joy is the post I am talking about.

Matters of stash: last night, before I was going to bed, I thought I needed some organization in my stash...I do remember almost everything I have and where I put it, but then I think there might be better ways to keep it. While I was thinking all this, I realized that if I have a free hour I prefer to dedicate it to knitting rather then put everything in order...

Nel post di oggi volevo parlare di organizzazione dello stash, chiedendovi come organizzavate i vostri gomitoli, come vi sentite in merito ai gomitoli per capire meglio me stessa e i miei gomitoli...

poi prima di iniziare a scrivere ho letto il post in un blog che seguo da un po' di tempo scritto da una persona veramente speciale e creativa, Ashley. Sta vivendo una delle sfide più difficili della vita e...è semplicemente fantastica. Choose Joy è il post di cui sto parlando.

Questioni di gomitoli: ieri sera, prima di addormentarmi, ho pensato di aver bisogno di un po' di organizzazione nel mio stash...ricordo quasi tutti i gomitoli che vivono in questa casa e dove li ho messi, ma poi penso che ci potrebbero essere modi migliori per organizzarli. Mentre pensavo tutto questo, mi sono anche resa conto che se ho un'ora di tempo preferisco dedicarla al lavoro a maglia piuttosto di mettere a posto...

I like it:) I finished it yesterday, while watching the girls decorating the Christmans tree. They have asked to make it all by themselves and it has been so lovely to see them work together and cooperate on all the aspects and decisions.

As usual I customized the pattern a little bit, to adjust the gauge to the yarn I had and the needles I wanted to use. I am going to use it a lot:) I really like it:)) The original pattern is Chevron and Diamond Jacket by Teva Durham.

Mi piace:) L'ho finito ieri, mentre guardavo le ragazze decorare l'albero di Natale. Quest'anno hanno voluto farlo da sole e ed è stato bellissimo guardarle mentre lavoravano insieme e cooperavano su tutti gli aspetti e le decisioni.

Come al solito ho personalizzato leggermente il pattern originale, per regolarlo alla tensione della lana che volevo usare e i relativi ferri. Lo userò tanto:) Mi piace veramente tanto:)) Il pattern oroginale è Chevron and Diamond Jacket di Teva Durham.

A special day - un giorno speciale

Yesterday, it has been a really special day. A little yarn journey with some special friends (we went to the special opening by Grignasco), a lot of lovely conversations, meeting internet friends by real, a sweet lunch, new future projects, and a lot of new incredible skeins to knit with it. Last night, before going to bed, I thought about all the emotions, all the ideas, all the feelings...and I fell asleep with a smile on my face:)))

Ieri è stata una giornata molto speciale. Un piccolo viaggio lanoso con delle amiche speciali (siamo andate all'apertura speciale di Grignasco), piacevoli conversazioni, incontrare persone conosciute sulla rete dal vivo, un dolce pranzo, nuovi progetti futuri e tanti nuovi gomitoli con cui lavorare. Ieri sera, prima di andare a dormire, pensando a tutte le emozioni, le idee, le sensazioni...mi sono addormentata con un sorriso sulla faccia:)))

WIP- Lavoro in corso

I had bought this book a while ago (I know, I love to buy books as I love to buy yarn...), then a friend of mine saw it and she ordered it too...and then she fell in love with this pattern and she needed some help to work out the pattern. So I decided to cast on one for me and knit it with her. At first I didn't feel the project, maybe since I haven't knitted in a while with large needles, or maybe because I was experimenting again with gauge, since I wanted to use a thinner yarn and needles (8 mm instead of 10 mm).

Then last night I started working on it and I just couldn't stop...I could see it build in my hands. I tried it on and the size was working...I just went up and knitted the L size...and now, I can't wait to see it finished. It is a quick project and I am thinking of some little mods at the waist line...

Avevo comprato questo libro un po' di tempo fa (lo so, sono compulsiva nell'acquisto dei libri come in quello della lana), poi una mia amica lo ha visto e ne ha comprato una copia anche lei...e si è innamorata di questo modello e aveva bisogno di aiuto per realizzarlo. Così ho deciso di avviarne uno anch'io. All'inizio non sentivo il progetto, forse perché era da un po' che non lavoravo con i ferri grandi, o forse perché stavo di nuovo sperimentando con la tensione perché volevo usare dei ferri e una lana leggermente più piccoli (8mm invece di 10 mm).

Ieri sera l'ho ripreso e non potevo smettere di lavorare a maglia...potevo vederlo crescere tra le mie mani. L'ho provato e la taglia funzionava...sto lavorando la taglia L...e ora, non vedo l'ora di vederlo finito. E' un progetto veloce e sto pensando a delle piccole modifiche all'altezza della vita...

Gauge matters - questioni di tensione

Gauge matters: gauge is very important, almost fundamental in knitting certain garments where ease and fit are so important. I have never met two persons with the same identical gauge. So many factors are involved while knitting: the type of needles, the material of which they are made, the type of fiber, how we hold our fingers, how we knit, and sometimes how we feel...this is important too, and

sometimes I don't have the same exact gauge in the same project.

And this is the beauty of an handmade garment:) The personality within the fiber we create:)

But I think that with time and experience we can understand the mysteries of guage and then just feel the potential gauge of the yarn and knit without a swap. I confess that when I knit for myself sometimes I don't make swaps, especially when I feel that urge to cast on...and I must do it right away. I also love to experiment and see what happens and then I might decide to make changes while I am knitting.

There was a time when I used to be stressed by gauge, now I feel more free to experiment.

Questioni di tensione: la tensione è molto importante, quasi fondamentale per realizzare certi capi dove la vestibilità e le misure sono molto importanti. Non ho mai incontrato due persone che avessero la stessa identica tensione. Così tanti fattori sono coinvolti: il tipo di ferri, il materiale con cui sono fatti, il tipo di fibra, come teniamo le dita, come lavoriamo e a volte anche il nostro umore...questo è anche importante e a volte anch'io non ho la stessa tensione nello stesso progetto.

E questa è la bellezza di un capo fatto a mano:) La personalità intrinseca del tessuto che stiamo creando:)

Credo anche che con l'esperienza e il tempo possiamo capire i misteri della tensione e quindi poi comprendere la potenziale tensione del filato e quindi iniziare a lavorare senza un campione. Confesso che quando realizzo capi per me stessa non faccio il campione, specialmente quando sento quell'urgenza irrefrenabile di avviare un lavoro...e devo farlo assolutamente subito. Amo anche sperimentare e vedere cosa succede e quindi poi posso fare delle scelte e delle modifiche mentre sto lavorando.

Un tempo ero più stressata dalla tensione, ora mi sento più libera di sperimentare.

Nantucket Vest

This is my version of the Nantucket Vest. I had fallen in love with the one she was wearing in September at the Manualmente event by Cuore di Maglia. I had to cast on right away, as it always happens when I see a pattern that I like. I wanted it a little bit longer, with a drapy effect. It has been my in between projects project and then it took me two weeks for two seams...but now I am so happy I have finished it:))

Questa è la mia versione del Nantucket Vest. Mi sono innamorata della versione che lei indossava durante l'evento di Manualmente a settembre di Cuore di Maglia. Ho avuto l'impulso di avviare subito, come mi capita sempre quando vedo un pattern che mi piace. Lo volevo un po' più lungo, con un effetto a drappeggio. E' stato il progetto tra i progetti e poi ci ho messo due settimane per le cuciture...ma ora sono così felice di averlo finito:))

The Kal from Italy Group on Raverly is already talking about December's kal: we will knit the Peasy cardigan. I have chosen this black Tango by GrignascoKnits I had in my stash.

And there is some orange in it, a new color to me...and, as you can see the black and orange fabric, I am going to sew a pair of matching pants. I am curious, these are totally new color shades to me:)))

And today I feel full of energy, last night I was so tired that I went to sleep at 10 p.m...so I had a really long night of sleep:):)

Si parla già del Kal di dicembre nel Gruppo Kal from Italy su Raverly: faremo insieme il cardigan Peasy. Ho scelto questa Tango di GrignascoKnits che avevo nelle mie scorte.

E ci sono delle fiammature arancioni, un nuovo colore per me...e, da come potete vedere dal tessuto nero e arancio, mi cucirò un paio di pantaloni coordinati. Sono proprio curiosa, sono sfumature di colore totalmente nuove per me:)))

Last night I had to start it...I have been wanting to start knitting this pattern since I first saw it, I just love it: Levenwick by Gudrun Johnston.

Yesterday was one of those strange days...little princess was at home sick, we hadn't slept much during the night and I had these necessity to create, but I felt tired at the same time.

So I kept thinking about DH's hat and stitch patterns, I am getting obsessed with reversible stitches...

I finished late last night, but he is so happy with his new hat:)

Note for myself: never iron when too tired, I steamed on my left hand and really hurt myself:)

Ieri era una di quelle giornate strane...la piccola principessa era a casa malata, non avevamo dormito molto durante la notte e io sentivo questa necessità di creare, ma ero anche troppo stanca allo stesso tempo.

Così ho pensato incessantemente al cappello del caro marito e a motivi di maglia, ultimamente sono ossessionata dai motivi reversibili....

Ho finito tardi ieri sera, ma è felicissimo del suo nuovo cappello:)

One evening DH came home freezing and asking me to knit him a hat…so we started looking among patterns and books …he liked right away this one.

After I have finished it, we realized that the color doesn’t suit him…and it might be perfect for my brother…I might give it to him for Christmas:))) I have knitted it in a super soft cashmere...I could knit a coordinated cowl, I still have some balls...

And now looking for new ideas for new hats for DH...

Una sera il Caro Marito è tornato a casa congelato chiedendomi di fargli un cappello...così abbiamo cercato tra i modelli e tra i libri e gli è piaciuto subito questo.

Dopo averlo finito, ci siamo resi conto che il colore non gli sta per niente bene...e invece starebbe benissimo a mio fratello...così potrei regalarglielo per Natale:))) L'ho realizzato in un morbidissimo cashmere...potrei fargli un collo abbinato, ho ancora qualche gomitolo...

During the weekend I have realized that I might be net-dependant. Everything started on Saturday morning, when I have realized that my regular super fast connection wasn't working...how could I write to my friends, read blogs or write posts, or...

I felt so frustrated, like something vital was taken from me...I needed it also for some important work documentation I had to do by this morning...and ...help...

Super calm DH found a temporary solution, but the connection was so slow, that I felt even more frustrated...

and this morning I feel again myself, everything seems to be working and I managed to do all the super urgent work deadlines I had to do.

Durante il fine settimana mi sono resa conto che potrei essere rete-dipendente. Tutto è iniziato sabato mattina, quando mi sono resa conto che la mia normale super veloce connessione non funzionava...come potevo scrivere ai miei amici, leggere blog o scrivere post, o...

Mi sono sentita frustrata, come se qualcosa di vitale mi fosse stato tolto...avevo anche bisogno di fare alcuni documenti molto importanti per il lavoro con scadenza questa mattina ... e...aiuto...

Il super calmo caro marito ha trovato una soluzione temporanea, ma la connessione era così lenta, che mi sono sentita ancora più frustrata...

e questa mattina mi sento di nuovo me stessa, tutto sembra funzionare e sono riuscita a fare tutte le cose super urgenti per il lavoro in scadenza.

Sometimes I realize that it is the rythm of knitting that is a balsam to my thoughts...depending on the moment and on the type of day, it might take a while to feel again centered and in harmony with myself, but it is the rhythm of my knitting that makes the magic.

Writing with a fountain pen - Scrivere con la stilografica

Yesterday, while at the supermarket with the girls looking for pens and notebooks for school, I saw a fountain pen. I used to use them all the time, everyday a new ink with a different color, to take notes on everything...life, ideas, and thougths. I had to buy one for myself...next mission: colored ink, I only found a blue one.

Ieri, mentre ero al supermercato con le ragazze per cercare penne e quaderni per la scuola, ho visto una penna stilografica. Le usavo sempre, con un inchiostro di colore diverso ogni giorno, per prendere appunti su tutto...la vita, idee e pensieri. Non ho potuto resistere alla tentazione di comprarmene una...prossima missione: inchiostro colorato, ho trovato solo quello blu.

The other night I had follen asleep while putting the girls to sleep and reading a book with them...sometimes it happens, after long and busy days. I woke up after an hour and half (around 11 pm). After some knitting, I went to bed but I couldn't fall asleep...I manged to sleep by 2 am. In the meantime, I kept thinking about stitches and patterns, about the idea of a long cowl that I could turn around my neck a lot of times...and the following day I just had to cast on, I had this idea:)

L'altra sera mi sono addormentata mentre mettevo le ragazze a nanna e leggevo un libro con loro...a volte mi succede, dopo lunghe giornate intense. Mi sono svegliata dopo un'ora e mezza (verso le 23 crica). Dopo un po' di ferri di maglia, sono andata a domire, ma non riuscivo ad addormentarmi...mi sono poi riaddormentata alle 2 di notte. Nel frattempo, continuavo a pensare a punti e modelli, all'idea di un collo lungo da attoricigliare intorno al collo tante volte...e il giorno seguente ho dovuto avviare le maglie, avevo quest'idea nella testa:)

Last night I finished it and when Rachele woke up this morning she was so happy. She has wanted her version for so long, she had also chosen the yarn right away since she had loved the Allegria pattern from the moment I created it, and finally I managed to knit it. She went to school this morning so happy, like wearing a mom's special hug.

La scorsa notte l'ho finito, e quando Rachele si è svegliata questa mattina era felicissima. Ha desiderato la sua versione per così tanto tempo, aveva anche già scelto la sua lana essendosi innamorata del modello Allegria nel momento in cui l'avevo creato, e finalmente sono riuscita a realizzarlo. E' andata a scuola così felice, avvolta in un abbraccio speciale di mamma.

Today is a strange day: it's still raining and the girls are at home even if it's a Monday, all the schools are closed because of the bad weather of the past days. And here, by my desk, with this strange light and the girls' noises in the house, I was doing some knitting research ...and I started looking at the first projects, at the first kals, at the first Raverly friends, at the first posts...so many incredible and beautiful things have happened since then and thank you to all of you, close and far-away friends:) Thank you with all my heart!

Oggi è un strano giorno: piove ancora e le ragazze sono a casa anche se è un lunedì, tutte le scuole sono chiuse a causa del brutto tempo degli ultimi giorni. E qui, presso la mia scrivania, con questa strana luce e i rumori delle ragazze per la casa, stavo facendo delle ricerche riguardanti la maglia...e ho iniziato a guardare ai primi progetti, ai primi kal, alle prime amicizie su Raverly, ai primi post...così tante incredibili e meravigliose cose sono successe da allora grazie a voi, amiche vicine e lontane:) Grazie con tutto il cuore!

I am sitting by my desk, starting to write today post, when I realize that I just love rain: I feel so creative, I love to hear the softer noises of the city, I adore hearing pouring rain...and the darker light...my friends usually make fun of me when I say these words and they say that it is beacause of my Swedish genes...but rain just makes me happy:)

Ok, pictures and colors do not turn out the best with this light, I am aware... this is how one of my library shelves looks like in these days. And I feel like knitting a Levenwick by Gudrun Johnston and a Killybegs by Carol Feller with the Loden yarn: now which color for which one...the light green one on the right or the blue one in the middle...and which one will I cast on first...

And it is true, I have bought the book "Contemporary Irish Knits" by Carol Feller and I love it:)

Sono seduta alla mia scrivania, per scrivere il post di oggi, e mi sto rendendo conto che amo la poggia: mi fa sentire creativa, adoro sentire i rumori attutiti della città e adoro sentire lo scroscio della pioggia...e la luce più scura..in genere i miei amici mi prendono in giro quando racconto tutto ciò e dicono che è a causa dei miei geni svedesi...ma la pioggia mi rende veramente felice:)

Ok, è vero, le foto però non vengono bene con questa luce, ne sono consapevole...e questa foto rappresenta uno degli scaffali della mia libreria in questi giorni. Purple is always in my heart:):)

I wanted a purple top to wear on one of my favorite blue tops with purple cuffs and collar. I had in my stash some variegated MerinoGold by GrignascoKnits in the purple shades, in the exact same purple of the decorations on the top...I knitted a Patrizia, making it a little bit smaller than the S size in order to wear it under my coat.

Volevo un top viola da indossare su una delle mie maglie preferite, blu con i dettagli sul collo e sui polsi viola. Avevo tra i miei gomitoli della MerinoGold di GrignascoKnits variegata nei toni del viola, di un viola praticamente identico alle decorazioni...ho realizzato un Patrizia, leggermente più piccolo della taglia S per poterlo usare sotto i cappotti.

Leaflet

It is always so incredible to knit projects with the friends of the Kal from Italy group on Ravelry. The project for the month of October was Leaflet by Cecile Glowik MacDonald. I knitted some mods, as the long sleeves, the buttonholes and the leaf pattern. At a certain point, I decided that I wanted longer leaves, so I started reading the chart as if it was written only for the RS side (only for the lower part of the leaf and by doing this I have a seed stitch effect instead od reverse stockinette).

I am so happy about my new jacket:)

E' sempre bellissimo lavorare progetti con le amiche del gruppo Kal from Italy su Raverly. Il progetto per il mese di ottobre era il Leaflet di Cecile Glowik MacDonald. Ho inserito alcune modifiche, come le maniche lunghe, le asole e il disegno della foglia. A un certo punto, ho deciso che volevo foglie più lunghe, così ho iniziato a leggere il grafico come se fosse stato scritto solo per i ferri sul dritto del lavoro (solo per la parte inferiore della foglia e così facendo ho un effetto a punto riso invece di maglie a rovescio).

Sono veramente felice della mia nuova giacca:)

Playing with needle sizes - giocando con i numeri dei ferri

I've started to knit a Wrapigan, but I am playing with needles sizes and gauge. I am using a thicker yarn and size 10 mm needles. I' ve casted on half the number of stitches for size S and now I am really curious to see the result. I am going to do another little modification: I am going to knit the sleeves with decreases, in order to have a tighter ease.

Ho iniziato a lavora un Wrapigan, ma giocando con la tensione e il numero dei ferri. Sto usando una lana più spessa e ferri numero 10 mm. Ho avviato la metà delle maglie per la taglia S e ora sono molto curiosa di vedere il risultato. Farò un'altra piccola modifica: lavorerò le maniche con delle diminuzioni, in modo tale da ottenere una vestibilità più aderente.

NIght Knitter - Knitter Notturna

I am a night knitter...when everybidy is asleep and I only have my light next to me, while the house is silent, I love to sit with my needles and knit. It is the magical moment of my day, when I stay by myself, I meditate and look at the stitches build and transform in something beautiful that I already love.

Sometimes I finish really late, and I rush myself to bed, otherwise the following (or the same day...) I will be really tired when I have to get up...but the feeling of happiness helps me to fall asleep and dream incredible dreams.

Sono una knitter notturna...quando tutti dormono e ho solo la mia luce accessa, quando la casa è silenziosa, adoro sedermi sul divano a lavorare a maglia. E' il mio momento magico della giornata, quando sono sola con me stessa, medito e guardo le maglie formarsi e trasformarsi in qualcosa di meraviglioso che già amo. A volte finisco veramente tardi, vado a nanna di corsa, altrimenti il giorno dopo (o lo stesso giorno...) sarò molto stanca quando mi alzerò...ma la sensazione di gioia mi aiuta ad addormentarmi e sognare sogni incredibili.

Last night, before falling asleep, I was thinking about today's post...favorite places where to knit...and there is one image that I kept thinking about...this one, in Bretagne on a road trip with family and friends...I was knitting everywhere, in the car, during lunch time, during sightseeing stops...like a mantra...I was looking for something, I was searching for answers about myself and my creative nature, I needed to be in my world...and somewhere, up on those cliffs, I started to sense the answer to my quest.

Ieri sera, prima di addormentarmi, mentre pensavo al post di oggi...i posti preferiti per lavorare a maglia...un'immagine continuava a tornarmi in mente...questa, in Bretagna, durante un viaggio on-the-road con la famiglia e amici...lavoravo a maglia ovunque, in macchina, durante i pranzi e le visite turistiche...come un mantra...cercavo qualcosa, cercavo risposte su me stessa e la mia natura creativa, avevo bisogno di essere nel mio mondo...e da qualche parte, su quelle scogliere, ho iniziato a intravedere la risposta alla mia domanda.

My facination for books and everything regarding knitting.And charts are an important knitting aspect...it's like learning a new code, a new language, but then when this language becomes part of you it's like a new world revealed.

I thought it would be nice to start writing something about charts, my notes on charts, it's going to be like an appointement: my Tuesday notes on charts. And for the first one, I will just insert some symbols and their meaning.

Thinking about Christmas - Pensando a Natale

Thinking about Christmas: every year I declare (and that's when my DH starts looking at me with love and a funny smile on his face) that I want to start in advance and be prepared, so that I can enjoy the month of December...and every year I end up the night before finishing gifts or details.

But this year it's going to be different (and at this point DH gives me a lovely kiss and declares that he adores my being always so positive).

This year I want to try...I am making a list...looking at patterns: lovely hats, scarfs, gloves.... that I want to knit in the next weeks for Christmas...and I have started to look at freebies to download to make little lovely cards for the wraps...here I found the first.

I am going to start a new thread on the group Kal from Italy for Christmas ideas.

Pensando al Natale: ogni anno dichiaro (e in quel momento il Caro Amato inizia a guardarmi con amore e un buffo sorriso sul volto) che voglio iniziare in anticipo ed essere preparata, così che possa poi godermi il mese di dicembre...e ogni anno mi ritrovo a finire i regali o i dettagli la sera prima.

Ma quest'anno voglio provare...sto facendo una lista...guardando i modelli: cappelli, sciarpe, guanti carini...che voglio realizzare a maglia nelle prossime settimane per Natale...e ho iniziato a cercare freebies da scaricare per realizzare cartoncini carini per i pacchetti....qui ho trovato i primi.

Inizierò un nuovo thread nel gruppo Kal from Italy con idee per Natale.

Mystery Kal - La donna misteriosa

Thank you girls from the Ravelry Group Kal from Italy for asking me to organize this:)

The first Clue is being revealed: it is a shawl.

I have indicated two different types of yarns that I have used for “La Donna Misteriosa”. If you want to experiment, you can actually use a thicker yarn (with a different gauge and needles size) and obtain a new and different style. I am going to do it during the Kal.

The dates for the clues revealing:

31st of October 2011 – Clue 2
7th of November 2011 – Clue 3
14th of November 2011 – Clue 4
21st of November 2011 – Clue 5

E’ arrivato il momento di svelare il primo indizio: è uno scialle.

Ho indicato due tipi di filato che ho usato per realizzare “La Donna Misteriosa”. Se volete sperimentare, potete usare una lana più spessa (con tensione e ferri diversi) per ottenere un nuovo e diverso stile. Lo farò durante il Kal.

La date di quando saranno svelati i nuovi indizi:

31 ottobre 2011 – Indizio 2
7 novembre 2011 – Indizio 3
14 novembre 2011 – Indizio 4

The forgetten project - Il progetto dimenticato

Wow...this is the forgotten project...I was tidying up among my yarns and Wips...and I found a project bag I hadn't seen in a while...I opened it and I found this...I had totally forgotten about it...I was knitting a long and wide scarf with the beautiful KidLin by Louet....with a nice decorative lace border and then I was planning a stockinette main part...I will start knitting this again:):)

Wow...questo è il progetto dimenticato...stavo mettendo in ordine tra le mie lane e i miei lavori in corso...e ho trovato un sacchetto porta progetto...l'ho aperto e ho trovato questo...me l'ero totalmente dimenticato...stavo realizzando una sciarpa lunga e larga con la bellissima KidLin di Louet...con un bordo decorativo traforato e poi una parte principale in maglia rasata...riprenderò questo progetto molto presto:):)

Last night while knitting the Leaflet cardigan by Cecily Glowik MacDonald that I am making with the incredible friends of the Kal from Italy Group on Raverly, I have realized that it felt great to knit with 6 mm needles and a thick yarn. My project is growing so quickly...instant gratification:):)

Ieri sera mentre lavoravo il mio Leaflet cardigan di Cecily Glowik MacDonald che sto realizzando con le incredibili amiche del gruppo su Raverly Kal from Italy, mi sono resa conto della meravigliosa sensazione di lavorare con i ferri 6 mm e una lana spessa. Il mio progetto sta crescendo così velocemente...gratificazione immediata:):)

Ginevra Caponcho: new pattern - nuovo modello

My new pattern: the Ginevra Caponcho. I love the idea that it can be worn as a cape or as a poncho, depending on the style of the day and it has a lacy central pattern, easy to memorize.
It a seamless project, knitted topdown, and it can be easily knitted for girls or women, depending on the chosen size and gauge.

Il mio nuovo modello: il Ginevra Caponcho. Adoro l'idea che possa essere indossato come una cappa o come un poncho, in funzione dello stile del giorno, e ha un motivo centrale traforato facilmente memorizzabile.

E' un progetto senza cuciture che si lavora dall'alto verso il basso, e può essere realizzato sia per la donna sia per le ragazze, in funzione della taglia e della tensione scelta.

In the mood for fingerless gloves - Nel mood di guanti senza dita

This morning, while walking the girls to school, the air was chilly and we all felt like wearing fingerless gloves.

September has been such a hot and humid month, that I wasn't in the mood for planning some winter knitting like this. But now that the air is cooler...I am ready:)

Questa mattina, mentre portavo le ragazze a scuola, l'aria era fresca e tutte abbiamo avuto voglia di indossare guanti senza dita.

Settembre è stato un mese talmente caldo e umido che non mi ha fatto venir voglia di lavorare progetti come questi. Ma ora che l'aria è più fresca...sono pronta:)

I am really happy with my new sleeveless cardigan. It is the Tea Leaves by Melissa LaBarre. I have been wanting to knit it for so long and thank you to the Kal from Italy Group on Raverly I finally did. I knitted it sleeveless, beacause where I live and work it is quite warm...not Turin, here in the winter it can get quite cold, but indoors:) I used the Esprit yarn by Sesia I have had for a while in my stash and it is perfect for this project.

Sono molto felice del mio nuovo cardigan senza maniche, il Tea Leaves di Melissa LaBarre. Era da un po' di tempo che lo volevo realizzare e grazie al gruppo Kal from Italy su Raverly finalmente l'ho fatto. L'ho realizzato senza maniche, perché dove abito e lavoro fa molto caldo...no, in effetti a Torino d'inverno può fare anche molto freddo, ma in casa:) Ho usato l'Esprit di Sesia che per un po' di tempo ha vissuto nel mio stash e devo dire che è perfetta per questo progetto.

Wools of Europe - Lane d'Europa

The event is WOOLS OF EUROPE - PASSION FOR WOOL - TODAY AND TOMORROW, a bilingual and travelling exhibition which will highlight one hundred European sheep breeds that will take place in Miagliano (Biella) from the 10th of October until the 31st December 2011.

You will be able to see each breed with the picture of the animal, the fleece originated from that breed and an item made from that specific wool. At the same time you will be able to visit historical sites, take classes and see unique items all made from wool and fleece.

L'evento si chiama WOOLS OF EUROPE - LA PASSIONE PER LA LANA - OGGI E DOMANI, un'esposizione in due lingue e itinerante, che presenta un centinaio di razze di pecore europee che si terrà a Miagliano (Biella) dal 10 Ottobre al 31 Dicembre 2011.

Potrete vedere ogni tipo di pecora con la sua foto, leggere la descrizione dell'animale, il suo vello e un oggetto realizzato con quella specifica lana. Allo stesso tempo potrete visitare siti storici, partercipare a corsi e vedere articoli unici realizzati con la lana.

New project - nuovo progetto

My new project: the Nantucket Vest from Interweave Knits (summer 2011). I fell in love with this vest when I saw Federica wearing one at the Cuore di Maglia stand during Manualmente.

I thought: Wow:) And I must confess that when I get stuck on something like the idea of a new project, it is like an obsession...that night I came home and I looked everywhere for the magazine, that I couldn't find it. I couldn't remember where I last saw it...but I knew that it had to be somewhere....and then I kept looking before going to bed, and there it was, in the library, next to my bed among other magazines that I had put in a hurry on the shelf. The next morning I put in my bag the magazine and the Maya yarn by GrignascoKnits and during a break I casted on...and some of you saw me knitting this pink fiber in the stand...Last night I was too tired to knit and it was too late...but tonight I hope to knit an important part of the border...I can't wait to wear it:)

Il mio nuovo progetto: il Nantucket Vest di Interweave Knits (estate 2011). Mi sono innamorata di questo gilet quando ho visto Federica arrivare allo stand di Cuore di Maglia a Manualmente con indosso la sua versione.

Ho subito pensato: Wow:) E devo confessare che quando un'idea come quella di un nuovo progetto si cristallizza nella mia mente diventa praticamente un'ossessione...la sera stessa, tornata a casa, ho cercato la rivista per tutta la casa, ma non riuscivo a trovarla e non riuscivo a ricordare dove l'avessi messa...ma sapevo che doveva essere da qualche parte...e poi ho continuato la ricerca prima di andare a dormire, ed eccola li, sulla libreria tra altre riviste, vicino al mio letto...devo averla appoggiata sullo scaffale di corsa. La mattina seguente ho messo nella borsa la rivista e la lana Maya di GrignscoKnits e durante una pausa ho avviato le maglie...e qualcuno di voi deve avermi vista lavorare nello stand questa fibra rosa...ieri sera ero troppo stanca ed era troppo tardi per lavorare...ma stasera spero di lavorare un bel pezzo del bordo...non vedo l'ora d'indossarlo:)

Wow, double wow - Wow, doppio wow

Wow, double wow: I am knitting these incredible yarns and I am totally in love with both of them, the colors, the texture...everything in them is making me happy.

I am preparing the WS for Unfilodi for the 19th of November and I am really having the best of times while knitting the Malabrigo Worsted and the Tosh Merino by Madelinetosh.

And I must thank Lulu for her incredible and special taste for colors and shades:):)

Wow, doppio wow: sto lavorande queste due lane meravigliose e ne sono totalmente innamorata, i colori, la mano...tutto in queste lane mi sta rendendo felice.

Sto preparando il WS per Unfilodi per il 19 novembre ed è veramente bello poter lavorare con questa Malabrigo Worsted e con la Tosh Merino di Madelinetosh.

New Buttons - nuovi bottoni

Today I have found the perfect buttons for my Tea Leaves Cardigan by Melissa LaBarre that I am knitting with the incredible group "Kal from Italy" on Raverly .

I was walking thought the stands at Manualmente and I saw them, almost waiting for me: I am so happy, they are perfect. Now I can't wait to finish the cardigan and wear it:)

Oggi ho trovato i bottoni perferri per il mio Tea Leaves Cardigan di Melissa LaBarre che sto lavorando con il meraviglioso gruppo "Kal from Italy" su Raverly.

Stavo guardando i diversi stand che espongono a Manualmente e li ho visti, quasi stessero aspettando me: sono così felice, sono perfetti. Ora non vedo l'ora di finire il cardigan e indossarlo:)

A passion for shawls - Una passione per gli scialli

I must confess: I love shawls, I love knitting them and I love designing them. In the past days I have developed an obsession for Allegria, I have been knitting it with different fibers (here you can see it in Tsumugi by Habu) and I still want to knit a big version with larger needles. As this one:)

Devo confessarlo: adoro gli scialli, adoro lavorali e adoro crearli. In questi ultimi giorni sto sviluppando un'ossessione per Allegria, ne ho realizzati diversi con fibre differenti (quello nella foto è realizzato con la Tsumugi della Habu) e ne voglio anche fare una versione gigante con ferri più grandi. Come questo:)

L'Azzu Shawl is and has been another important passion. And when I see how many of you have knitted it, I am touched by it. Thank you so much:)
