Kal from Italy

In the Group on Raverly,  Kal from Italy, the new year has started and we have new projects on the way. I am participating to the kal that will knit the Varjo [shadow] shawl by Veera Välimäki. She is a really talented designer and her shawls are incredible.  I have chosen some beautiful hand-dyed yarn with natural colors by Aogi that I have found here:))) New rules in the group, threads totally concentrated only on the project:)

Nel Gruppo su Ravelry, Kal from Italy, l'anno nuovo è iniziato con nuovi progetti. Sto partecipando al kal che realizzerà lo scialle Varjo [shadow] shawl by Veera Välimäk. E' una stilista di grande talento e i suoi scialli sono incredibili. Per realizzarlo ho scelto della meravigliosa lana tinta a mano con dei colori naturali da Aogi che ho trovato qui:))) Nuove regole nel gruppo, threads totalmente concentrati sulla realizzazione del progetto:)

Wow...yesterday I was browsing through Raverly and I have realized that it is only two years ago that we have created the Group Kal from Italy...it seems so long since I have met so many of you, we have knitted so many projects together and we have shared so many moments together. It's like family:)))

Wow...ieri navigavo su Raverly e mi sono resa conto che abbiamo creato il Gruppo Kal from Italy solo due anni fa...mi sembra di conoscervi da così tanto tempo, abbiamo realizzato così tanti progetti insieme e abbiamo condiviso tanti momenti. E' come essere in Famiglia:)))

New Kals - Nuovi Kal

 

This is the first shawl that we have knitted in the Raverly Group Kal from Italy dedicated to the three beautiful shawls created by Veera Välimäki: Different Lines.
I love it and I will wear it a lot:))

In July we are going to knit the Color Affection Shawl and these are the colors that I have chosen. I am still in a pink mood:))

Questo è il primo scialle che abbiamo realizzato nel Gruppo su Raverly Kal from Italy dedicato agli scialli di Veera Välimäki: Different Lines.
Lo adoro e lo indosserò tantissimo:))
A luglio realizzeremo il Color Affection e questi sono i colori che ho scelto: sono ancora in uno stato d'animo rosa:))

New Kals - Nuovi Kal

 

In the Raverly Group Kal from Italy we are planning new Kals...3 shawls by Veera Välimäki:

 Different Lines, Color Affection, and Stripe Study Shawl 

to knit during the three summer months, one each month. They are incredible and there is asymmetry in them:) I love them:)

Shrug Kal - Kal per un Coprispalle

In the Kal form Italy Group on Raverly we are already thinking about a kal for the end of June: the project will be a shrug. The patterns are going to be Danzando and  Torino's Atmosphere Shrug (thank you for porposing them, it has made me really happy:) You can knit which one you prefer, but we will knit, chat together and enjoy the experience of being a group in building up a project.

Shrugs and capes are my latest obsession...it might depend that I like to feel my shoulder's covered even in the hottest days, that I feel more at ease...or that I feel more dressed up with them...so I am thinking to knit my shrug in cotton...for lovely summer evenings. But I don't know yet which one I will knit...

Nel Gruppo Kal from Italy su Raverly stiamo già pensando a un kal per fine giungo: il progetto sarà un coprispalle. I pattern saranno Danzando e Torino's Atmospehere Shrug (grazie per averli proposti, ciò mi ha reso molto felice:) Potrete realizzare quello che preferite tra i due, ma lavoreremo insieme, chiacchiereremo e ci divertiremo condividendo l'esperienza di essere un gruppo nel materializzare un progetto.

Coprispalle e cappe sono la mia ultima ossessione...può dipendere dal fatto che mi piace sentire le mie spalle coperte anche nei giorni più caldi, che mi sento più a mio agio...o mi sento più vestita...realizzerò il mio coprispalle in cotone...per le belle serate estive. Ma non so ancora quale farò...

Kal for Cuore di Maglia

 

Cuore di Maglia is in need of Cocoons for Preemies:)) With a hole in the bottom for intensive therapy tubes. 

I have created for a dear friend who will be mother for the second time in these days a Cocoon and I have thought to transfrom it also in a size suitable for Preemies and to organize a Kal in the Group Kal from Italy to help CdM and the little ones: It is a free pattern and you can find it here:) And the Kal here:)

And a special thank you goes to Laura, Cristiana and all the incredible and special women in Alessandria for being the souls (also for all the organization) and the strength of CdM:))

Kal from Italy

 

The Kal from Italy Group on Raverly is so active and fun:) Every month there is a new Kal, new ideas, new voices:)

There is going to be a new Kal in March, we are going to knit the Argo cardigan by Svetlana Volkova; the February Kal is Water and Stones by Vera Valimaki; in January we knitted Pausa from Knitting an Italian Day; in December Peasy by Heidi Kirrmaier, there are some slow kals...a lot of incredible and fun kals:)

There is also a de-stashing thread, where we show the pictures of the projects we have knitted with yarn from our stash...oh yes, when I thought about it I was thinking about my big (let's say huge...) stash...I have started to put it in order and I took this picture to celebrate the beginning moment...I love to keep my soon to knit yarn in an old suitcase that my mom has restored...it was from my great-grandparents:)))

Il Gruppo Kal from Italy su Ravelry è sempre pieno di iniziative e divertente:) Ogni mese c'è un nuovo Kal, nuove idee, nuove voci:)

C'è anche un forum sulla riduzione dello stash, dove postiamo le foto dei progetti che abbiamo realizzato con la lana del nostro stash...e già, quando ho pensato a questo forum ho pensato al mio grande (diciamo immenso...) stash...ho iniziato a metterlo in ordine e ho scattato questa foto per commemorare il momento iniziale...amo tenere la lana dei progetti imminenti in una vecchia valigia che mia mamma ha restaurato...era dei miei bisnonni:)))

Two Kals from Knitting an Italian Day - Due Kal da Knitting an Italian Day

Wow, soon in the Kal from Italy Group on Ravelry there are going to be two Kals with projects from the book "Knitting an Italian Day". I feel so honored:)

Wow, presto ci saranno due Kal nel Gruppo Kal from Italy su Raverly con progetti dal libro "Knitting an Italian Day". Mi sento così onorata:)

 

The first one is Pausa and I remember the emotions while designing it. I loved the thought of an asymetrical opening and a yoke built on cables.

Il primo è Pausa, e mi ricordo le emozioni mentre lo creavo. Adoravo l'idea di un'apertura asimmetrica e di uno sprone costruito sulle trecce.

And the other one is Idea, a lovely and easy poncho perfect for all the seasons:)

E l'altro è Idea,  un poncho d'effetto e di facile realizzazione perfetto per tutte le stagioni:)

December Kal - Kal di dicembre

 

The Kal from Italy Group on Raverly is already talking about December's kal: we will knit the Peasy cardigan. I have chosen this black Tango by GrignascoKnits I had in my stash.

And there is some orange in it, a new color to me...and, as you can see the black and orange fabric, I am going to sew a pair of matching pants. I am curious, these are totally new color shades to me:)))

And today I feel full of energy, last night I was so tired that I went to sleep at 10 p.m...so I had a really long night of sleep:):)

Si parla già del Kal di dicembre nel Gruppo Kal from Italy su Raverly: faremo insieme il cardigan Peasy. Ho scelto questa Tango di GrignascoKnits che avevo nelle mie scorte.

E ci sono delle fiammature arancioni, un nuovo colore per me...e, da come potete vedere dal tessuto nero e arancio, mi cucirò un paio di pantaloni coordinati. Sono proprio curiosa, sono sfumature di colore totalmente nuove per me:)))

E oggi mi sento carica di energia, ieri sera ero così stanca che sono andata a dormire alle 10...così ho dormito tanto:):)

Leaflet

 

It is always so incredible to knit projects with the friends of the Kal from Italy group on Ravelry. The project for the month of October was Leaflet by Cecile Glowik MacDonald. I knitted some mods, as the long sleeves, the buttonholes and the leaf pattern. At a certain point, I decided that I wanted longer leaves, so I started reading the chart as if it was written only for the RS side (only for the lower part of the leaf and by doing this I have a seed stitch effect instead od reverse stockinette).

I am so happy about my new jacket:)

E' sempre bellissimo lavorare progetti con le amiche del gruppo Kal from Italy su Raverly. Il progetto per il mese di ottobre era il Leaflet di Cecile Glowik MacDonald. Ho inserito alcune modifiche, come le maniche lunghe, le asole e il disegno della foglia. A un certo punto, ho deciso che volevo foglie più lunghe, così ho iniziato a leggere il grafico come se fosse stato scritto solo per i ferri sul dritto del lavoro (solo per la parte inferiore della foglia e così facendo ho un effetto a punto riso invece di maglie a rovescio).

Sono veramente felice della mia nuova giacca:)

Thinking about Christmas - Pensando a Natale

Thinking about Christmas: every year I declare (and that's when my DH starts looking at me with love and a funny smile on his face) that I want to start in advance and be prepared, so that I can enjoy the month of December...and every year I end up the night before finishing gifts or details.

But this year it's going to be different (and at this point DH gives me a lovely kiss and declares that he adores my being always so positive).

This year I want to try...I am making a list...looking at patterns: lovely hats, scarfs, gloves.... that I want to knit in the next weeks for Christmas...and I have started to look at freebies to download to make little lovely cards for the wraps...here I found the first.

I am going to start a new thread on the group Kal from Italy for Christmas ideas.

Pensando al Natale: ogni anno dichiaro (e in quel momento il Caro Amato inizia a guardarmi con amore e un buffo sorriso sul volto) che voglio iniziare in anticipo ed essere preparata, così che possa poi godermi il mese di dicembre...e ogni anno mi ritrovo a finire i regali o i dettagli la sera prima.

Ma quest'anno sarà diverso (e a questo punto il Caro Amato mi da un dolce bacio e dichiara che adora il mio essere sempre positiva).

Ma quest'anno voglio provare...sto facendo una lista...guardando i modelli: cappelli, sciarpe, guanti carini...che voglio realizzare a maglia nelle prossime settimane per Natale...e ho iniziato a cercare freebies da scaricare per realizzare cartoncini carini per i pacchetti....qui ho trovato i primi.

Inizierò un nuovo thread nel gruppo Kal from Italy con idee per Natale.

Mystery Kal - La donna misteriosa

Thank you girls from the Ravelry Group Kal from Italy for asking me to organize this:)

The first Clue is being revealed: it is a shawl.

I have indicated two different types of yarns that I have used for “La Donna Misteriosa”. If you want to experiment, you can actually use a thicker yarn (with a different gauge and needles size) and obtain a new and different style. I am going to do it during the Kal.

The dates for the clues revealing:

31st of October 2011 – Clue 2
7th of November 2011 – Clue 3
14th of November 2011 – Clue 4
21st of November 2011 – Clue 5

Ho indicato due tipi di filato che ho usato per realizzare “La Donna Misteriosa”. Se volete sperimentare, potete usare una lana più spessa (con tensione e ferri diversi) per ottenere un nuovo e diverso stile. Lo farò durante il Kal.

Instant Gratification - Gratificazione Immediata

Last night while knitting the Leaflet cardigan by Cecily Glowik MacDonald that I am making with the incredible friends of the Kal from Italy Group on Raverly, I have realized that it felt great to knit with 6 mm needles and a thick yarn. My project is growing so quickly...instant gratification:):)

Ieri sera mentre lavoravo il mio Leaflet cardigan di Cecily Glowik MacDonald che sto realizzando con le incredibili amiche del gruppo su Raverly Kal from Italy, mi sono resa conto della meravigliosa sensazione di lavorare con i ferri 6 mm e una lana spessa. Il mio progetto sta crescendo così velocemente...gratificazione immediata:):)

New Buttons - nuovi bottoni

Today I have found the perfect buttons for my Tea Leaves Cardigan by Melissa LaBarre that I am knitting with the incredible group "Kal from Italy" on Raverly .

I was walking thought the stands at Manualmente and I saw them, almost waiting for me: I am so happy, they are perfect. Now I can't wait to finish the cardigan and wear it:)

Oggi ho trovato i bottoni perferri per il mio Tea Leaves Cardigan di Melissa LaBarre che sto lavorando con il meraviglioso gruppo "Kal from Italy" su Raverly.

Stavo guardando i diversi stand che espongono a Manualmente e li ho visti, quasi stessero aspettando me: sono così felice, sono perfetti. Ora non vedo l'ora di finire il cardigan e indossarlo:)
