WIP- Lavoro in corso

I had bought this book a while ago (I know, I love to buy books as I love to buy yarn...), then a friend of mine saw it and she ordered it too...and then she fell in love with this pattern and she needed some help to work out the pattern. So I decided to cast on one for me and knit it with her. At first I didn't feel the project, maybe since I haven't knitted in a while with large needles, or maybe because I was experimenting again with gauge, since I wanted to use a thinner yarn and needles (8 mm instead of 10 mm).

Then last night I started working on it and I just couldn't stop...I could see it build in my hands. I tried it on and the size was working...I just went up and knitted the L size...and now, I can't wait to see it finished. It is a quick project and I am thinking of some little mods at the waist line...

Avevo comprato questo libro un po' di tempo fa (lo so, sono compulsiva nell'acquisto dei libri come in quello della lana), poi una mia amica lo ha visto e ne ha comprato una copia anche lei...e si è innamorata di questo modello e aveva bisogno di aiuto per realizzarlo. Così ho deciso di avviarne uno anch'io. All'inizio non sentivo il progetto, forse perché era da un po' che non lavoravo con i ferri grandi, o forse perché stavo di nuovo sperimentando con la tensione perché volevo usare dei ferri e una lana leggermente più piccoli (8mm invece di 10 mm). 

Ieri sera l'ho ripreso e non potevo smettere di lavorare a maglia...potevo vederlo crescere tra le mie mani. L'ho provato e la taglia funzionava...sto lavorando la taglia L...e ora, non vedo l'ora di vederlo finito. E' un progetto veloce e sto pensando a delle piccole modifiche all'altezza della vita...

I love rain - Amo la pioggia

 

I am sitting by my desk, starting to write today post, when I realize that I just love rain: I feel so creative, I love to hear the softer noises of the city, I adore hearing pouring rain...and the darker light...my friends usually make fun of me when I say these words and they say that it is beacause of my Swedish genes...but rain just makes me happy:)

Ok, pictures and colors do not turn out the best with this light, I am aware... this is how one of my library shelves looks like in these days. And I feel like knitting a Levenwick by Gudrun Johnston and a Killybegs by Carol Feller with the Loden yarn: now which color for which one...the light green one on the right or the blue one in the middle...and which one will I cast on first...

And it is true, I have bought the book "Contemporary Irish Knits" by Carol Feller and I love it:)

Sono seduta alla mia scrivania, per scrivere il post di oggi, e mi sto rendendo conto che amo la poggia: mi fa sentire creativa, adoro sentire i rumori attutiti della città e adoro sentire lo scroscio della pioggia...e la luce più scura..in genere i miei amici mi prendono in giro quando racconto tutto ciò e dicono che è a causa dei miei geni svedesi...ma la pioggia mi rende veramente felice:)

Ok, è vero, le foto però non vengono bene con questa luce, ne sono consapevole...e questa foto rappresenta uno degli scaffali della mia libreria in questi giorni. E ho voglia di realizzare un Levenwick di Gudrun Johnston e un Killybegs di Carol Feller con la Loden. E ora la domanda...quale colore per quale modello...il verde pallido a destra o il blu centrale....e quale avvierò per prima...

Ed è vero, ho appena comprato il libro "Contemporary Irish Knits" di Carol Feller e lo adoro:)

I wanted a purple top to wear on one of my favorite blue tops with purple cuffs and collar. I had in my stash some variegated MerinoGold by GrignascoKnits in the purple shades, in the exact same purple of the decorations on the top...I knitted a Patrizia, making it a little bit smaller than the S size in order to wear it under my coat.

Il viola è sempre nel mio cuore:):)

Volevo un top viola da indossare su una delle mie maglie preferite, blu con i dettagli sul collo e sui polsi viola. Avevo tra i miei gomitoli della MerinoGold di GrignascoKnits variegata nei toni del viola, di un viola praticamente identico alle decorazioni...ho realizzato un Patrizia, leggermente più piccolo della taglia S per poterlo usare sotto i cappotti.

Leaflet

 

It is always so incredible to knit projects with the friends of the Kal from Italy group on Ravelry. The project for the month of October was Leaflet by Cecile Glowik MacDonald. I knitted some mods, as the long sleeves, the buttonholes and the leaf pattern. At a certain point, I decided that I wanted longer leaves, so I started reading the chart as if it was written only for the RS side (only for the lower part of the leaf and by doing this I have a seed stitch effect instead od reverse stockinette).

I am so happy about my new jacket:)

E' sempre bellissimo lavorare progetti con le amiche del gruppo Kal from Italy su Raverly. Il progetto per il mese di ottobre era il Leaflet di Cecile Glowik MacDonald. Ho inserito alcune modifiche, come le maniche lunghe, le asole e il disegno della foglia. A un certo punto, ho deciso che volevo foglie più lunghe, così ho iniziato a leggere il grafico come se fosse stato scritto solo per i ferri sul dritto del lavoro (solo per la parte inferiore della foglia e così facendo ho un effetto a punto riso invece di maglie a rovescio).

Sono veramente felice della mia nuova giacca:)

A passion for yarn - una passione per la lana

 

Sometimes I look at my stash and I wonder...is it an obsession?

I just love yarn and fibers, I see them and I feel that desire to have them in my stash....like I can't live without them...but they make me happy, it is a true passion:):)

A volte guardo le mie scorte di filato e mi chiedo...è un'ossessione?

Amo profondamente la lana e le fibre, le vedo e sento quell'irrefrenabile pulsione a possederle nel mio stash...come se non potessi vivere senza...ma mi rendono felice, è una vera passione:):)

New destashing FO - Nuovi progetti finiti riduzione stash

I am really happy with my new sleeveless cardigan. It is the Tea Leaves by Melissa LaBarre. I have been wanting to knit it for so long and thank you to the Kal from Italy Group on Raverly I finally did. I knitted it sleeveless, beacause where I live and work it is quite warm...not Turin, here in the winter it can get quite cold, but indoors:) I used the Esprit yarn by Sesia  I have had for a while in my stash and it is perfect for this project.

Sono molto felice del mio nuovo cardigan senza maniche, il Tea Leaves di Melissa LaBarre. Era da un po' di tempo che lo volevo realizzare e grazie al gruppo Kal from Italy su Raverly finalmente l'ho fatto. L'ho realizzato senza maniche, perché dove abito e lavoro fa molto caldo...no, in effetti a Torino d'inverno può fare anche molto freddo, ma in casa:) Ho usato l'Esprit di Sesia che per un po' di tempo ha vissuto nel mio stash e devo dire che è perfetta per questo progetto.

Another destashing project is the Ginevra Caponcho. I have used a variegated MerinoGold by GrignascoKnits...and this will soon be a pattern:)

New project - nuovo progetto

My new project: the Nantucket Vest from Interweave Knits (summer 2011). I fell in love with this vest when I saw Federica wearing one at the Cuore di Maglia stand during Manualmente. 

I thought: Wow:) And I must confess that when I get stuck on something like the idea of a new project, it is like an obsession...that night I came home and I looked everywhere for the magazine, that I couldn't find it. I couldn't remember where I last saw it...but I knew that it had to be somewhere....and then I kept looking before going to bed, and there it was, in the library, next to my bed among other magazines that I had put in a hurry on the shelf. The next morning I put in my bag the magazine and the Maya yarn by GrignascoKnits and during a break I casted on...and some of you saw me knitting this pink fiber in the stand...Last night I was too tired to knit and it was too late...but tonight I hope to knit an important part of the border...I can't wait to wear it:)

Il mio nuovo progetto: il Nantucket Vest di Interweave Knits (estate 2011). Mi sono innamorata di questo gilet quando ho visto Federica arrivare allo stand di Cuore di Maglia a Manualmente con indosso la sua versione.

Ho subito pensato: Wow:) E devo confessare che quando un'idea come quella di un nuovo progetto si cristallizza nella mia mente diventa praticamente un'ossessione...la sera stessa, tornata a casa, ho cercato la rivista per tutta la casa, ma non riuscivo a trovarla e non riuscivo a ricordare dove l'avessi messa...ma sapevo che doveva essere da qualche parte...e poi ho continuato la ricerca prima di andare a dormire, ed eccola li, sulla libreria tra altre riviste, vicino al mio letto...devo averla appoggiata sullo scaffale di corsa. La mattina seguente ho messo nella borsa la rivista e la lana Maya di GrignscoKnits e durante una pausa ho avviato le maglie...e qualcuno di voi deve avermi vista lavorare nello stand questa fibra rosa...ieri sera ero troppo stanca ed era troppo tardi per lavorare...ma stasera spero di lavorare un bel pezzo del bordo...non vedo l'ora d'indossarlo:)

Here it is:):) My Huldan Takki, my long project of these past two months. It is going to be perfect for the end of September, when the air will be chilly in the morning while walking the girls to school. I have used the Aade Long 8/2 wool...and it is one of my destashing projects:):)

Eccolo:):) Il mio Huldan Takki,  il mio progetto lungo degli ultimi due mesi. Sarà perfetto per la fine di settembre, quando l'aria del mattino sarà più fresca e assolutamente da insoddosare mentre porto le ragazze a scuola. Ho usato la lana 8/2 della Aade Long ..ed è uno dei miei progetti riduzione dello stash:):)

In the meantime, last night I have started a new destashing project: the Tea Leaves Cardigan by Melissa LaBarre with a 100% Merino by Manifettura Sesia. I am really looking foward to this evening, I will knit some more rows of my new cardigan.

Nel frattempo. ieri sera ho iniziato un altro progetto destashing: il Tea Leaves Cardigan di Melissa LaBarre con una Merino di Manifattura Sesia. Non vedo l'ora che arrivi questa sera per lavorare qualche altro giro al mio nuovo cardigan.

Both projects are being knitting with the incredible and wonderful friends on Raverly of the group Kal from Italy.

New de-stash projects - nuovi progetti riduzione stash

My mission to reduce the stash continues:) I have knitted a new top, that is a mixture between the Tilde (the top part) and the Torino's Atmosphere Top (the body part) with only one point.

And two Torino's Atmosphere Shrugs in a summer version for the girls.

La mia missione riduzione dello stash continua:) Ho realizzato un nuovo top, combinando due modelli diversi: il Tilde nella parte superiore e il Torino's Atmosphere Top con una sola punta per la parte del corpo.

E due Torino's Atmosphere Shrug in versione estiva per le ragazze.

New FOs

I am loving this de-stashing project: I am concentrated on finishing projects and starting new ones. I have knitted the Vitamin D cardigan by Heidi Kirrmaier. I used Mousse fiber by
GringascoKnits, a lovely bland of wool, silk, and bamboo in my favorite color. I love this pattern:):) I might knit it again:)

Adoro questo progetto di riduzione dello stash: sono concentrata a finire progetti e a iniziarne di nuovi. Ho realizzato il Vitamin D di Heidi Kirrmaier. Ho usato il filato Mousse della GrignascoKnits, che mi è piaciuto molto (seta, lana e bamboo)..e in uno dei miei colori preferiti. Mi è piaciuto molto questo schema:):) Potrei rifarne un altro:)

I have also knitted a Torino's Atmosphere Top: I wanted a black top for the summer. I used 3,5 mm needles instead of 4 mm ones because I wanted it to be tight and with a not see-through fabric. So I went up a size and I knitted a size M and it is fitting perfectly.

Ho anche realizzato un Torino's Atmosphere Top: volevo un top nero per l'estate. Ho usato ferri circolari da 3,5 mm e non da 4 mm perché volevo che non fosse trasparente: così ho lavorato la taglia M. Ed è perfetto:)

Summer project: stashing-down - Progetto per l'estate: ridurre lo stash

My stashing -down project for the summer continues: I have knitted and created a Clarabella, knitted a Patrizia for my mom (with Mignon by Lana Gatto used doubled). In the meantime, I have started a new Chele (this time with 3/4 sleeves) with a lovely linen-bamboo-silk blend (Maestrale by GrignascoKnits) and a new Clarabella with Noro Kochoran.

Il mio progetto riduzione dello stash continua: ho creato e lavorato un Clarabella, realizzato un Patrizia per mia mamma (con la Mignon di Lana Gatto usata doppia). Nel frattempo ho iniziato un Chele con un filato di lino-bamboo-seta di GrignascoKnits (questa volta con le maniche 3/4) e un nuovo Clarabella con la Noro Kochoran.

I don't crochet that much, but I needed an I-phone case and so I made one and I used an old button from my grandmother's stash.

Non lavoro tanto all'uncinetto, ma avevo bisogno di una custiodia per il mio I-phone, così ne ho realizzato uno e l'ho decorato con uno dei bottoni che erano appartenuti a mia nonna.
