Citron Kal

Noi siam felici così: ci mandiamo messaggi, commenti e idee. E poi, in un secondo, ci uniamo in un Kal (Knit-Along) per lavorare insieme e costruire un nuovo scialle, ognuna con i propri ferri e gomitoli, ognuna il proprio scialle. In parti diverse del globo, ognuna sul proprio divano, unite e legate da un'unico progetto: così ne parliamo, ci aiutiamo, ridiamo, ci raccontiamo della vita, delle famiglie, dei figli che crescono troppo velocemente, della spesa, delle pile di vestiti da stirare, delle lavatrici e con un comune affetto condividiamo la nostra creatività e la nostra passione. E un giorno ognuna di noi indosserà il proprio scialle e ci penseremo e come una coccola ci abbraccerà con l'affetto che ci unisce.
L'idea nasce da un post di lei, poi lei si è lanciata con la sua passione, lei e lei hanno già detto che ci stanno pensando. Più saremo meglio sarà.

E noi tutte sabato inizieremo il Citron di Hilary Smih Callis.

We are happy as we are: we post messages, comments and ideas. And then, in a second, we plan a KAL, we want to knit together a new project, with needles and balls of yarn, all of us on a common project. We are in different parts of the world, in our homes, but linked by a common project: we talk about it, we help each other, we laugh, we chat about our lives, families, children that grow to fast, and we care for each other united by our creativity and passion. And one day we will all wear our shawls, we will think about each other and we will feel huged by our common and shared care for each other.
The idea comes from one of her posts, she put all her passion, she and she said that they are planning to partecipate. The more the better.

Wow - it's huge - è immenso

She has knitted so many of them. There was one that just made me say: I have to knit one too, a Birch. At first I was scared by the 299 stitches of the cast on. I used some Alpaga by La Droguerie and needles size 5 mm. And then I followed the pattern...and I adore it. I can't wait for cooler days to come so I can wear it while walking to school to pick up the girls from school. And it is in one of the colors that I declare a must for myself for this fall. While knitting it, I discovered that toward the end it was nice to knit shorter rows, to have the feeling that the work was going "faster" because of the smaller number of stitches on my needles.

Lei ne ha fatti tanti e uno in particolare mi ha fatto pensare, lo devo fare anch'io, il Birch. Subito le 299 maglie d'avvio mi hanno spaventato. Ho usato un'Alpaga di La Droguerie e ferri circolari n.5. E poi ho seguito le istruzioni dello schema. E lo adoro. Non vedo l'ora che arrivino giornate più fresche per poterlo indossare mentre vado a prendere le bambine a scuola. Questo verde salvia è uno dei colori che dichiaro un must per il mio guardaroba autunnale. E confesso, che verso la fine del progetto era bello avere meno maglie da lavorare sul ferro perché mi davano la sensazione di essere più veloce.

Manca poco, che meraviglia:) Cuore di Maglia ci sarà, ci saremo noi (Cristiana, Laura ed io), ci saranno le attività, i corsi, le chiacchere, il knit café, le parole, le emozioni, i sorrisi, i ferri, i gomitoli, i pattern, i caffé e tanta voglia di stare insieme e condividere.

Workshop presso Unfilodi

Il tutto nasce da una bellissima telefonata che mi ha fatto Lulù di Unfilodi, dove mi ha invitata a tenere un workshop presso di lei il 25 settembre 2010 sulla tecnica continentale veloce. Con immensa gioia ho risposto di si e per l'occasione ho creato il Mea Shawl, uno scialle realizzabile in diverse dimensioni, dal formato bandana alla dimensione più grande (in realtà lo si potrebbe proseguire all'infinito), a una versione intermedia.

Nel video lo vedete realizzato con la Manos Lace dell'Uruguay e con la Piura di Filitaly-Lab.

Oggi è il primo settembre: manca poco pochissimo e sono emozionatissima:):) Sarà una giornata veramente speciale:):):)

Some weeks ago I have received a beautiful phone call from Lulù of Unfilodi. She has invited me to teach a workshop in her Knit-house on the 25th of September on the fast continental knitting technique. With joy I said yes and for the occasion I have created the Mea Shawl , that can be realized in different sizes, from the smallest one to the biggest one (you could go on endlessly) to a medium size.

In the video you will see it knitted with the Manos Lace de L'Uruguay and with the Piura by Filitaly-Lab.

Today it's the first of September: I am really happy that soon it will be the 25th:):) It will be a very special day:):)

My mom made this for me - Me l'ha fatto la mia mamma

When I went visiting my parents during the weekend, my mom had a surprise for me. She had knitted this beautiful vest for me, with a grey cotton by Laines du Nord (Egitto). I love the deep V-neck she has created, it is nice worn both with a t-shirt or with shirts.

My mom, she is the woman who has taught me how to knit. I remember myself as a child, a little six years old girl sitting on the sofa next to her and watching her knit sweaters for the family. I remember being intrigued by the colors, the different fibers and the magical movements of her hands that created stitch after stitch. I remember looking at her to learn, with my own needles, trying to copy her. She has taught me this beautiful and unique art that has become my passion and really makes each of my day special, since there is always something new to create, to test and to discover. Thank you mom!

Durante il fine settimana sono andata a trovare i miei genitori e mia mamma mi ha accolta con una sorpresa. Mi aveva fatto questo bellissimo gilet, in un grigio perla di Laines du Nord (Egitto). Adoro lo scollo a V che ha creato, è divino sia indossato con una t-shirt sia con una camicia.

Mia mamma, è la donna che mi ha insegnato a lavorare a maglia. Mi ricordo, una bambina di sei anni seduta sul divano al suo fianco mentre la guardavo creare maglioni per tutta la famiglia. Mi ricordo, affascinata dai colori, le fibre e quei suoi movimenti magici delle mani che creavano maglie dopo maglie. Mi ricordo, mentre l'osservavo, con i miei ferri tra le mani, tentando di copiarla. E' lei che mi ha insegnato questa incredibile e meravigliosa arte che è diventata la mia passione e rende ogni mio giorno speciale, potendo sempre creare, testare o scoprire qualcosa di nuovo. Grazie mamma!
